A NEW CAROL THIS YEAR by Rose Rosetree God, bring us a compassionate Christmas this year… a time slower, a heart healer. War is so real to us. Let peace be realer.
We need big help, with angels. Ring us in some obvious Yule-tree type glittering, visions miraculous…. Oh say, what can fix us?
I feel the need. Don’t you, God? Don’t you cringe inside at the big mess that we humans have made?
But is what we need now some miraculous grace, where dramatically You will arrive at our doors fling our souls open wide and throw huge dazzling love at us God’s Help for Dummies, like pie in the face?
While we do so much hurrying, so little merrying, perhaps it’s not God’s job to take all pain away. I propose a new carol that each of us sings to someone--God, friends, relatives, cats and dogs where we don’t just count blessings but sing them. All day!
Regardless of whether we’re foolish or wise, let us bring holy grace in the best way we can, with each volunteer willing to sing our small tunes to help heal the world’s wounds. Can our souls improvise?
