How scary is this?  In 2007 you could triple your effectiveness at reading people, which could make you sexier, could help you score points at work, and more.  But here's the problem, a fear I encounter regularly.  

My passion in life is doing (plus developing and teaching) techniques for reading people deeper.  I've found that even mentioning the idea of deeper perception becomes a kind of Rorschach test for people.  Fascinating! 

How would you react if someone offered to help you improve your tennis serve, lose weight permanently, or bring your crossword puzzle skills to the level where you could easily do the NY Times Sunday puzzle?  

If you're like most people, you'd warm to the idea.  Even if you think you're already doing pretty well, you'd welcome some expert advice… unless it was about reading people deeper, and then you'd react as if being offered one of life's love-it-or-hate-it choices, like mushrooms, cilantro or Paris Hilton.  

Could people reading skills seem more threatening than telling a male driver to ask some stranger for directions?  

I don't claim to "know it all."  Yet you might be amazed how many people feel that skill at reading people is an all-or-nothing proposition.  Even the hint that there could be more to learn is often interpreted as an insult.  

How open are you to learning?  In every moment, that's a choice.  At the start of a new year, the choice feels as big and wide open as a vast landscape covered with fresh snow.

THREE WAYS TO READ PEOPLE DEEPER IN 2007

1.  BODY LANGUAGE AS A DIRECTION, NOT A DESTINATION

If you already study nonverbal communication, you know the thrill of the hunt.  But how far below the surface can this form of perception actually take you? 

Not very.  I mean no disrespect to the study of micro-expressions, proxemics, kinesics and all the other specialized sciences of body language.  Sure, they can tell you some useful things, but here's what they can never successfully tell you: The unique gifts of a person's soul.  What makes that person tick.  How that person is evolving over time.  Deep contradictions, conflicts being solved, growth areas.  

What body language does best is to start you inquiring beneath the surface of life.  So use it to get ready, then go even deeper.

2.  FACE READING CAN SHOW CHARACTER IN DEPTH AND DETAIL

Sages have studied faces for 5,000 years.  They weren't reading expression.  They know cheeks and noses aren't a product of genes or of luck.  Face data reflects the soul. To read more about Face Reading, click here.

Are there good facial characteristics versus bad ones? Not in my system of Face Reading Secrets®.  It's based on the principle that "God doesn't make junk."  Whatever system of physiognomy you study -- or invent -- don't be satisfied until you can find loads of accurate insights, at least an hour's worth per face.

3.  AURA READING MAY NOT BE WHAT YOU THINK IT IS.

An aura is a set of energy bodies around a physical body. So you (and everyone you meet) could be compared to an onion… only you smell better. 

Most people believe that auras are beautiful colors.  If you have "the gift," you can see auras.  Based on this idea, most people who try to read auras fail. 

I believe something different.  Although not the only alternative, my belief isn't just a theory, either.  I read auras, professionally or personally, every day of my life  and I have taught thousands of people to do the same. 

Everyone can read auras, in depth and detail, but only if you do two things.  First, you must discover and accept your built-in set of gifts.  Everyone has a set, e.g., I've found 12 different gifts are common.  . 

Second, you must use techniques that activate your gifts. Use them and you'll receive plenty of practical information.
