Bush's Great Pick for Stealth Zealot Judge Samuel Alito Have you been frustrated, listening to the
confirmation hearings? What would Judge Samuel Alito really be like as a Supreme Court
Justice? His reserved demeanor and body language provide only the faintest
clues. Read his 5,000 legal opinions or - for more fun - join me as I read
his face and aura for integrity and other vital qualities.
Judge
Samuel Alito, also
this close-up Former Supreme Court Nominee Harriet Miers Wide jaws, especially on the right side of the face. (Remember, when you are looking at a photo, the right and left sides are reversed, unlike seeing your own reflection in the mirror. It helps me to pretend I'm shaking hands with the person in the image.) Wide jaws go with a talent for loyalty. The potential challenge is stubbornness. The right side of the face carries information about personal style with work. Straight chin bottom relates to making decisions based on principle. The potential challenge is idecisions based on ideology, inflexible thinking. No eyelid thickness (with a double eyelid). Physically, this means that if Alito were going to put on blue eyeshadow, why bother? Nobody would see it unless he blinked. The related talent? Intimacy style has tight boundaries, so a person like Alito can work very independently. Potential challenge? Not making a deep connection to other people and not minding it, either. Fake smile. A real (Duchenne) smile has lips part, cheeks rise, eyes crinkle. Alito's version of a fake smile is especially ominous. He shows tooth bottoms
only and pushes forward an uncommonly large amount of jaw.
Meaning? There's only the slightest pretense of opening up to other people.
Prevailing matters more than getting along with people. People don't have character attributes because of genetics. Instead, the inner person shapes the physical face, depending on choices and values. My favorite way to use face reading is to use comparison photos to see how faces evolve. (Yes, this kind of evolution, even happens in Kansas!) Here's the comparison link for Alito, from his student days at Princeton. Alito's face hasn't changed much over the past 34 years, and you'll soon read
something similar about his aura. But his face shows two extremely significant
changes. Before: Bookish, cerebral, shy, not an imposing presence. Now: More confident, otherwise similar. Will not take a strong leadership role. Still, his vote on the Court will count! Chakra Databank: Creativity Before: Implementer, even a plodder. Now: Stronger and more adept. Yet his creativity still involves implementation, not origination. Chakra Databank: Power Before: Enormous confidence in his own abilities. Biggest chakra projection (along with intelligence) is at Alito's solar plexus chakra. Now: Power has grown even bigger. It supports his passions, beliefs. Note that Alito is not into power for the sake of self-aggrandizement but for the sake of his ideals. Chakra Databank: Emotions Before: Lukewarm emotions; he's detached. Ideas are more real to Alito than people. Now: He has developed a lot emotionally, feels emotions now more strongly and connects more to significant others, though in a highly analytical way. Alito reminds me here of someone who has had a huge amount of psychotherapy, except his detachment is coming from a disposition to be highly analytical about everything in life, feelings included. Chakra Databank: Truthfulness in communication Before: Blunt. Economical speech. A little arrogant during this time in his life. Now: Not a liar, in his own opinion. Doesn't tell untruths. But he feels completely comfortable with assembling logical arguments to impress anyone, supporting any point of view. Conveniently, he isn't very involved in life's emotions, so there is no personal weight to one view over another. His throat chakra suggests that Alito only comes straight out with his personal views when with old friends, family. Chakra Databank: Spiritual life Before: Set in his belief system. Doesn't depend on it much. The main thing going on this chakra is his learning how to handle being so brilliant and cerebral. Now: Very big
part of the Judge's life now, his spiritual life--it's second only to the
projection at his solar plexus chakra. Most interestingly, Alito gets more
emotional about religious life than anything in his heart chakra--his spiritual
path is the real love of his life. If you're a Fundamentalist, Alito's confirmation will signal a happy day for you, perhaps comparable to Reagan's "Morning in America." It's not just a matter of having one of your own on the court. Alito will be perfect in the role of stealth zealot. For the rest of America, combining Alito with Roberts on the court is, frankly, dangerous. Having read them both, I'd say they are good men, brilliant and articulate... with very strong beliefs. Roberts has both integrity and a somewhat open mind; Alito has situational integrity and a mind that is, to an almost frightening degree, closed. Alito will be delighted to play concertmaster in Roberts' orchestra. And, unlike Roberts, Alito lacks scruples about what most people would consider truthfulness. Separation of church and state being protected by the Supreme Court? With Alito our swing voter, alas, Americans outside the Religious "Right" won't have a prayer.
